About Us
Bobby Whitaker Began Whitaker Builders in February 1959, and Whitaker Builders has been building homes ever since. Whitaker Builders and Whitaker Builders Supply have been at their current location at 119 Stark Road in Jackson, Georgia since 1998.
of Henry County for several years. He constructed his first building in Butts County in the spring of 1959. Bobby Whitaker did not make a decision to become a builder; working in the construction business just seemed to come naturally to him.
Family contributions to the business have been an important key to its success. Sons, Allen and David started going on jobs when they were 12 or 13, doing clean up at first and earning increasing responsibility over the years. Allen worked for Avondale Mills from 1978-1982 before returning to the family business; David has continuously worked with Whitaker Builders as it has grown.
Daughters LaNae Martin and Lisa Whitaker are also an important part of the business. LaNae is the building estimator and Lisa handles customer oriented duties. Bobby retired from the day-to-day operations of Whitaker Builders in 2005.
Whitaker Builders has built about 150 houses in the Jackson area over the last 50 years, as few as five houses in some years and as many as 25 in another year. Over the last 10 years, Whitaker Builders has built numerous houses in Jasper County, including the largest home it has constructed. Whitaker completed the huge 17,800 square foot home in 2008 in approximately 1.5 years.
Whitaker has built houses in Clayton, DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton, Lamar, Jones, Putnam and most other counties in this area of Georgia. The company expects to have continued success and hopes for continued growth for the business in its future.
